You can start from two aspects - maintenance of the mechanical part and improving driving habits.
● Maintenance of mechanical parts
In spring, there are many catkins in some areas, which can easily cause the surface of the radiator to be blocked by ash and insect carcasses. Therefore, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the truck radiator once a year. Since the current truck radiator structure is mostly a multi-layer design of air conditioning condenser + intercooler + cooling water tank, in order to ensure the effect, it is recommended to remove the radiator for cleaning.
2. Check whether the truck fan clutch is working properly
At present, most trucks are equipped with a silicone oil fan clutch. Its function is to adjust the fan speed in real time according to the engine temperature, reduce power consumption, and increase the accuracy of engine temperature control. If the silicone oil fan clutch is faulty, when the fan needs to run at full speed to dissipate heat, the fan speed is too low to meet the heat dissipation requirement.
The silicone oil fan clutch can be temporarily locked for testing and cannot be used for a long time. Otherwise, the power loss will be large and the fuel consumption will be high, and the fan connecting shaft will be damaged due to huge inertia, and the truck will break down halfway.
3. Check the truck engine injectors
For an electronically controlled high pressure common rail engine, if the fuel injector is worn and damaged, the fuel injection amount may exceed the rated value. Although the power performance will be improved, the maximum load of the engine will exceed the original factory limit, and the heat generated will be greater than the heat dissipation capacity of the engine cooling system, causing the engine to overheat. However, this failure is relatively uncommon.
● Improve driving habits
1.In some extreme conditions, the high temperature of the truck is not unexpected. We can downshift, lower the load, and increase the engine rpm. Through this change of driving habits, the high temperature caused by the overload of the cooling system can be effectively avoided.
2.Some friends use a sprinkler to spray the radiator of the water tank. This method can cure the symptoms but not the root cause, because after long-term use, a layer of scale will form on the outer surface of the radiator, which will deteriorate the heat dissipation capacity.
The high temperature of the engine is one of the most common faults of trucks in summer. If it is not dealt with in time, it will easily lead to serious faults such as cylinder pulling and cylinder sticking. In addition to the above reasons, components such as the thermostat and the exhaust brake butterfly valve may cause the engine to overheat. Only by finding the cause, treating the symptoms and allowing the cooling system to work properly, can we continue to enjoy "coolness" in the hot summer!
